Erdoğan’s chief advisor to French journalist: Dictator is your mother

Must read

One of the chief advisors of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, journalist Saadet Oruç, forced the limits of civility when she responded to a Twitter message from a French journalist who called Erdoğan a dictator, saying that the dictator is the journalist’s mother.

French journalist Jean-Paul Ney on Monday posted a message from his Twitter account in which he referred to Erdoğan as a dictator.

In response, Oruç wrote: “Dictator is your mother.” In another message, Oruç wrote that there is nothing to discuss with someone who calls the president a dictator.

“He will get his response in the way he deserves. Let this message stay here,” she added.

Oruç was later seen to have blocked Ney on Twitter.

Ney’s message came in the aftermath of the deportation of a French journalist from Turkey on Sunday.

Turkish authorities on Sunday decided to deport French journalist Olivier Bertrand, who was detained in the southeastern province of Gaziantep last Friday.

Bertrand, who works French news website lesjours.fr, was detained while reporting in Gaziantep, just north of Turkey’s border with Syria.
