A Diyarbakır court on Wednesday turned down a lawyer’s request for the release of pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-chair Figen Yüksekdağ.
Yüksekdağ, along with the party’s other co-chair, Selahattin Demirtaş, and eight other deputies, was arrested in early November.
On Monday the same court also rejected Demirtaş’s request for release.
Demirtaş isjailed in Edirne province, while Yüksekdağ is being held in a prison in Kocaeli province.
Media reports on Wednesday said that the lawyers for Yüksekdağ and Demirtaş would go to the Constitutional Court to object to the arrest of the politicians.
The HDP co-chairs and deputies were arrested after they refused to testify about alleged crimes linked to “terrorist propaganda.”
