The terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) killed four soldiers and one village guard in the provinces of Diyarbakır, Hakkari, Bingöl and Batman on Thursday.

Two soldiers died and two were wounded by explosives planted on a Diyarbakır road by the PKK.

In Hakkari a soldier died from mortar fire while another in the same area was severely wounded after stepping on a landmine. Soldier Lokman Dargın died in a remote-controlled PKK explosion in Bingöl. A village guard was also killed in a separate clash in Batman.

Turkey has been fighting against the PKK since the early 1980s and has suffered thousands of casualties, both security forces and civilians, in the conflict. The PKK, claiming to fight for Kurdish autonomy, is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.

Kurds, the largest minority in Turkey, have been subjected to discrimination and oppression for decades.
