3 police officers killed in suicide bombing during raid on ISIL cell in Gaziantep

Three police officers were killed and eight civilians were injured when a suicide bomber  blew himself up during a police raid on a suspected Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) cell in the southeastern province of Gaziantep on Sunday, Gaziantep Governor Ali Yerlikaya has announced.

The incident took place in the Beşyüzevler neighborhood of Gaziantep.

Four of the injured civilians were Syrians, according to the governor.

In the meantime, a second police raid was carried out on another suspected ISIL cell in the Burak neighborhood of Gaziantep later in the day. The Anadolu news agency reported that senior ISIL operative in Gaziantep Mehmet Kadir Cabel was killed in the operation.
