According to a statement released by the Kandilli Earthquake Observatory in İstanbul, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.0 shook Kandıra in the Black Sea region and was also felt in İstanbul.
The earthquake occurred at 11:19 a.m. local time.
İstanbul, which sits on a fault line, suffered from a massive earthquake in 1999 along with the rest of Turkey’s northwest Marmara region.
