The US Consulate in Adana warned its citizens on Monday that it had received credible threats of potential terrorist activity targeting US-branded hotels in Adana.
In a statement on its website on Monday, the consulate said, “US citizens in Adana are advised to exercise caution when patronizing these establishments.”
The US Consulate did not name the hotels; however, those hotels include properties operating under the Sheraton and Hilton brands.
Previously, the State Department had warned US citizens to avoid travel to southeastern Turkey. Adana, situated in the Southeast, is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from İncirlik Air Base, which the US military uses to launch attacks against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants in Syria.
