DBP takes trustee appointments to municipalities to top court

Must read

The pro-Kurdish Democratic Regions Party (DBP) has applied to the country’s Constitutional Court seeking annulment of the appointment of trustees to 24 municipalities by Turkey’s Interior Ministry.

The legal commission of the DBP petitioned the Constitutional Court on Monday, demanding the removal of the trustees appointed to the 24 municipalities in the country’s Southeast.

In early September Turkey’s Interior Ministry appointed trustees to 28 local municipalities, 24 of which were allegedly linked to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), while the other four were allegedly connected to the faith-based Gülen movement.

Trustees were also appointed to another municipality, in the İdil district of the southeastern province of Şırnak, last week.
