3 suspected PKK militants arrested in İstanbul for planning attacks

An İstanbul court has arrested three suspects with alleged ties to the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) based on intelligence indicating that they were planning attacks against public institutions.

İstanbul counterterrorism police raided a location in the Kadıköy district and detained Sipan K. on Aug. 25. Hamit E. and Şirvan İ. were detained in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır over links to Sipan K.

The three suspects were arrested by a court on Saturday. The police say Hamit E. had sent materials used for building explosives to other PKK militants in İstanbul, İzmir, Antalya and Bursa.
