Four people, including two special sergeants, were kidnapped by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Hakkari on Wednesday.

The PKK terrorists reportedly blocked a road near the village of Doğanlı in Çukurca and stopped a civilian vehicle. They kidnapped two special sergeants as well as the driver and a civilian passenger inside the car.

A large-scale investigation has been launched in the area to capture the PKK terrorists and rescue the kidnapped people.

In the meantime, one soldier was killed and another was injured in clashes on Wednesday between the PKK and Turkish security forces in the Kağızman district of Kars province in eastern Turkey.

The Turkish authorities had conducted direct talks with jailed PKK chief Abdullah Öcalan for several years until a truce in effect collapsed in the summer of 2015. Since then, there have been heavy clashes between the PKK and Turkish security forces.

More than 40,000 people, including 5,500 security force members, have been killed in four decades of fighting between the Turkish state and the PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US and the EU.
