A total of 92 people at Isparta’s Süleyman Demirel University (SDU) were suspended on Thursday along with 62 others at Adıyaman University, with most of them implicated by investigations into a July 15 failed coup attempt.
The victims of Thursday’s operation increased the total number of those suspended at SDU since July 15 to 410.
The suspensions included academics as well as administrative personnel.
Turkey survived a military coup attempt that killed over 240 people and wounded a thousand others, on July 15. Immediately after the putsch, the government along with the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pinned the blame on the Gülen movement without credible evidence.
Some 82,000 people have been purged from state bodies, nearly 40,000 detained and 20,000 arrested since the coup attempt. Arrestees include journalists, judges, prosecutors, police and military officers, academics, governors and even a comedian.
Meanwhile, another 39 public workers were also suspended in the Mediterranean province of Burdur on Thursday. (Turkey Purge)
