An armed attack against main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was aimed at sparking a civil war between segments of society, said Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) leader Devlet Bahçeli in his reaction to the assassination attempt against the CHP chief.
Bahçeli offered wishes for Kılıçdaroğlu’s wellbeing and condolences to the family of a soldier who was killed in what he termed a heinous attack targeting peace in society. He called on Turkey to beware of the dangers of terrorism. “Nobody will be able to drag Turkey into a war between brothers,” he tweeted after calling for a united front in the fight against terrorism.
