The Turkish military has struck with artillery fire targets and positions of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in Jarablus and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) north of Manbij, the military said on Monday.
The targets were hit at approximately 6 p.m., the Cumhuriyet daily reported.
Turkey is concerned about the expanding influence of the Kurdish forces who recently took control of Manbij from ISIL in an operation backed by the US-led coalition against the radical group.
The Turkish military also intensified its shelling and artillery strikes against ISIL targets in Jarablus amid reports of a rebel plan to liberate the border town from radical elements.
