Turkish president’s wife Emine Erdoğan reportedly spends TL 147,000 in Warsaw

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s wife Emine Erdoğan reportedly spent TL 147,000 in Warsaw, while the president was participating in a NATO summit in the city.

According to the reports on Polish media, Emine Erdoğan spent 200,000 Polish Zloty, which equals to 147,000 Turkish Liras, while shopping in a famous antique bazaar in Warsaw. Tens of bodyguards reportedly accompanied Erdoğan during the shopping.

On Oct. 5, 2015, Emine Erdoğan also reportedly spent 1,500 euros in Longchamp, a luxury store selling handbags and suitcases in Brussels, while the president was there for a series of high-level talks with a number of EU leaders on worsening refugee crisis amid a flow of refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Erdoğa reportedly reserved an entire shopping mall in Brussels for her personal use, blocking traffic around the mall for 15 minutes by placing a number of official cars and private security guards in the area.

The Belgian paper La Capitale covered the incident under the headline “Turkish president’s wife blocked [entrance to] shopping malls in Louise Avenue.”
