A total of 16 suspects, who were detained by police last week in relation to last Tuesday’s airport attack in İstanbul, have been referred to a court.

Turkish police staged several operations targeting the terrorist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) over the past week in order to reveal the connections behind the suicide attack that claimed 45 lives and injured over 200 people at the İstanbul Atatürk Airport on June 28.

Last week, as part of the investigation into the assault, police conducted synchronized raids on 16 addresses in İstanbul, detaining 13 people, including three foreigners. The police raids in İstanbul took place in the districts of Pendik, Başakşehir and Sultanbeyli.
Other anti-ISIS operations resulted in the detention of 17 foreign individuals in the southeastern province of Gaziantep and nine others in the western province of İzmir.
