Protester throwing eggs at main opposition leader Kılıçdaroğlu detained

A protester was detained in Ankara capital after throwing eggs at main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu during a soldier’s funeral ceremony on Friday.

The incident took place during a funeral ceremony held at the Kocatepe Mosque for sergeants Erhan Yıldırım and Özgür Kara, who were killed by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) terrorists in clashes in Turkey’s southeastern districts of Nusaybin and Gürpınar on Thursday.

One egg hit one of Kılıçdaroğlu’s guards and splashed to Kılıçdaroğlu.

Speaking to the press after the funeral, Kılıçdaroğlu said that he would call those who are responsible for the protest to account. “No one can prevent us from attending the funerals of the fallen soldiers. Above all, it is disrespectful towards the fallen soldiers and their families to bring militants from the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality here,” Kılıçdaroğlu added, referring to the Ankara Mayor Melih Gökçek.

Kılıçdaroğlu was also protested by a person after arriving to Antalya on the same day. The protester yelled “You ruined my life,” to the CHP leader while a group of people greeted and cheered for him at the airport.

The identity of the protester and the reason behind the protest was not clear.
