5 soldiers killed in PKK attacks in SE

A total of five soldiers were killed in attacks by the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in southeastern Turkey on Wednesday.

A soldier was killed in clashes in the Nusaybin district of southeastern Mardin province, which has been under curfew since March 14, after terrorist from the PKK opened fire on security forces early on Wednesday.

Five soldiers were also injured in a PKK bomb attack that took place in a different street of the district. The injured soldiers were sent to Nusaybin State Hospital for treatment.

Another bomb attack in Şemdinli district of Hakkari also killed four soldiers and injured nine others; four of them are in critical condition. The injured were taken to Hakkari Military Hospital for treatment.

Turkish General Staff released a statement on Wednesday for both incidents, informing the public about the soldiers who were killed by PKK terrorists. The statement wished “God’s mercy upon fallen soldiers,” and conveyed condolences to their family and friends, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and Turkish nation.
