Turkey’s unemployment rate rises to 9.6 percent in June: TurkStat

Turkey’s unemployment rate rose to 9.6 percent in June, up by 0.1 percentage point from May, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported on Thursday, citing the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The number of unemployed people, aged 15 or older, rose by 2,000 to 3,337,000 in June on a monthly basis, according to TurkStat data.

The unemployment rate was at 7.8 percent for men and 13.2 percent for women.

The employment rate stood at 47.8 percent in June, down by 0.6 percentage points month-on-month.

While the employment rate among men was 65.2 percent in June, it was 30.8 percent among women.

The labor force participation rate stood at 70.7 percent among men and 35.5 percent among women.
