919 more people test positive for COVID-19, death toll reaches 5,630

Turkey announced 919 new coronavirus cases on Monday, eight fewer than yesterday, bringing the total number to 225,173, while 17 more people have died of the disease, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.

The chart showed the death toll has reached 5,630 with the latest additions.

“The provinces that recorded the largest increase in the number of intensive care patients are İstanbul, Ankara, Konya, Gaziantep, Diyarbakır,” the minister tweeted, adding that in 21 provinces there were no new intensive care patients in the last three days.

There are 1,263 patients in intensive care, of whom 392 are on ventilators.

The chart indicated that 982 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

Turkey conducted 45,283 tests for the coronavirus over the past day, bringing the overall number of tests carried out so far to 4,617,971.

The chart showed that 210,469 people have recovered in Turkey since the start of the outbreak.

Turkey reported its first COVID-19 case on March 11. The country eased preventative measures at the start of June, opening shopping malls, cafes, restaurants and mosques.
