Turkey announced 922 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing the total number to 173,036, according to a chart posted on Twitter by Health Minister Fahrettin Koca.
The death toll increased by 17 to 4,746, the chart indicated.
A total of 146,839 people have recovered, according to the ministry, and active coronavirus cases remain below 30,000.
Eleven people were discharged from intensive care, decreasing the number to 631.
“The average age for new cases is 36, and for deaths, 71,” Koca tweeted.
The spread of the virus has been minimized in metropolitan areas, such as İstanbul, Ankara and İzmir, while the numbers have begun to rise in the southeastern part of the country, Koca said at a press conference on Wednesday.
