Turkish governor tests positive for coronavirus: report

The governor’s office in Turkey’s northwestern city of Kırklareli on Tuesday announced that Governor Osman Bilgin has tested positive for COVID-19, caused by the novel coronavirus, the T24 news website reported.

The test result arrived on Tuesday, a statement from the governor’s office said, adding that Bilgin would be put under quarantine in the official residence.

Meanwhile, a doctor at a clinic on the Turkish parliament campus tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday.

Following the result, some 150 people, mostly working at the Turkish parliament, were informed of the situation due to their recent interaction with the doctor.

Turkey has reported more than 10,000 confirmed cases since the first case was announced on March 11.
