Turkey’s Erdoğan to reveal counter-move in Syria tomorrow

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that on Wednesday he would reveal the retaliatory steps to be taken against regime forces in northwestern Syria, according to the Turkish media.

“They will pay a heavy price for attacking our soldiers,” Erdoğan said at a presidential palace gathering.

Syrian government forces have killed 13 Turkish military members in a week in clashes near Turkey’s observation posts in Idlib.

The heads of Turkey’s nationalist parties, government ally the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the opposition İYİ (Good) Party, called on the government to launch an aggressive military offensive in Syria.

“We should be planning to enter Damascus,” the MHP’s Devlet Bahçeli told his party members at a parliamentary meeting on Tuesday.
