Gaziantep University in southeastern Turkey will establish campuses in each of three provinces of neighboring Syria, according to a presidential decree published in the Official Gazette.

The university will establish a faculty of economics and administrative sciences in Syria’s al-Bab province, an Islamic sciences faculty in Azaz and an education faculty in Afrin, according to the decree, signed by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Gaziantep University had already established a vocational school in Jarabulus in April 2018 and applied to Turkey’s Higher Education Board (YÖK) to open campuses in the area, saying that there is a high demand for university education in the region.
