Alexander Poganshev, the undersecretary of the Belarusian Embassy in Turkey’s capital of Ankara, was seriously injured in a gun attack near the embassy building, Turkish media reports said on Wednesday.
Poganshev, who was rushed to a hospital, is reported to be in critical condition.
The incident took place as Poganshev was taking a walk near the embassy in Çankaya with his 13-year-old child as a man opened fire on them. The attacker, who reportedly had a longstanding feud with the embassy official, later committed suicide with a shot to the head.
An investigation has been launched into the incident by the Ankara police.
