Justice and Development Party (AKP) Deputy Chairman Nurettin Canikli has filed a lawsuit against Şaban Vatan, the father of a teenager who died under suspicious circumstances a year ago, because Vatan accused Canikli of covering up his daughter’s death.

Vatan claimed his daughter, Rabia Naz, was hit and fatally injured by a car and that the accident was covered up by local politicians and Canikli, a former defense minister from the AKP.

Eleven-year-old Rabia Naz was found injured in front of her apartment in Giresun province last April and died immediately after she was taken to a hospital.

Although the preliminary autopsy report did not rule out the possibility that she was hit by a car, the doctor told her father she must have fallen from a higher elevation or committed suicide.

The prosecutor’s office declared that she had died by suicide. Canikli announced from his Twitter account that he filed the lawsuit against Vatan claiming slander while saying that he hopes the allegations about Rabia Naz’s death will be cleared up and that justice will be served in the shortest time possible.
