Turkish broadcast watchdog fines Qatari-owned beIN for airing ‘Modern Family’

Turkey’s broadcasting watchdog, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), has fined Qatari-owned TV network beIN for airing the US television series “Modern Family,” the Habertürk news website reported on Friday.

The fine also included a temporary broadcast ban for two episodes.

RTÜK claimed the TV show includes profane language and sets a bad example for Turkish families by “normalizing having a child out of wedlock.”

“Modern Family” has been aired by ABC since 2009, garnering one Golden Globe and 17 Emmys.
