Turkey and Russia agreed on Wednesday that their next three-way summit with Iran to discuss the conflict in Syria would be held in Istanbul, a Turkish presidential source told Reuters.

According to the report, the source said Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin also agreed in a telephone call to speed up the establishment of military observation posts in Syria’s Idlib region and discussed the humanitarian situation in eastern Ghouta, near Damascus.

Putin and Erdoğan agreed to enhance cooperation between Russian and Turkish armed forces as well as intelligence services in fighting terrorism, Sputnik reported on Thursday.

“It is agreed to strengthen coordination of the actions of the armed forces and special services of Russia and Turkey in order to combat terrorist groups that violate the ceasefire regime,” the Kremlin press service said.
