Groundbreaking ceremony held for Gallipoli suspension bridge

The groundbreaking ceremony for a new bridge on the Gallipoli strait was held Saturday on the 102nd anniversary of the victory of the Battle of Gallipoli in 1915.

The suspension bridge, named Gallipoli 1915, is expected to be completed by the centennial of the Republic of Turkey in 2023.

The ceremony was held in the presence of Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş and their wives in Çanakkale province.

The bridge is expected to be the world’s longest suspension bridge when completed.
