[UPDATE] THY cancels all flights until midnight due to continuing snow in İstanbul

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Twitter that all its flights have been cancelled until midnight on Monday due to the continuing snowfall in İstanbul that has virtually paralyzed life in the city.

İstanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş said on Monday that the snow was the heaviest in seven years.

THY had earlier announced the cancelation of 227 scheduled domestic and international flights from its hub, İstanbul Atatürk Airport, and from Sabiha Gökçen Airport on the Asian side due to poor weather conditions.

Along with flights, services on some inter-city and city ferry lines were also suspended.

İstanbul Governor Vasip Şahin announced that the workday for public servants would end at 3:30 p.m. due to the heavy snow in İstanbul on Monday. He also announced that schools will be closed on Tuesday.
