Turkey launches second military surveillance satellite

Turkey’s second military surveillance satellite, Göktürk-1, was launched from French Guiana on Monday with a ceremony held simultaneously in Ankara.

The high-resolution earth observation satellite was developed for the Turkish Ministry of Defense and successfully launched by the Vega launch system from the Guiana Space Centre.

The satellite is expected to gather intelligence for Turkey through images.
