Members of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) detonated a vehicle loaded with explosives in front of a gendarmerie post, causing a number of people to be injured in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır late on Sunday.
The incident took place at the Seyrek gendarmerie post in the Kulp district. Ambulances were dispatched to the neighborhood, however, the number of those injured is not clear yet.
According to reports, the soldiers, who spotted the assailants ahead of the explosion, fired shots at them.
In a separate incident, a first lieutenant was killed in a clash between the security forces and PKK members in the Uludere district of the Şırnak province at around 9:00 pm on Sunday. The clash occurred in a military base near Turkey’s Iraqi border after a group of PKK members launched an armed attack on the base. The soldier was first injured and taken to a hospital by a helicopter, however, he later lost his life.
